I made this book in book arts, i love it! after making ‘Remembering’ I wanted to do something fun and more me! So i went a bit mental and found lots of coloured paper, colourful glittery acetate, paper with apples on, paper with gold keys on, colourful shiny paper……you get the idea.

I also found some PVC lace to use for the cover, and painted the board underneath so I could have even more colour on the book (Front cover - blue, back cover - pink, spine - purple.)

ANYWAY here it is, in all its colourful, lacy, glittery glory.

We all have little phrases and quotes that help us through the day - for me it’s the quote ‘Do the thing you think you cannot do’ by Eleanor Roosevelt. At the moment it’s stuck to my door with a little piece of paper, but I would love to have it on a canvas or pillow like this. There’s so many different songs and styles you could do too - great for a kids room with nursery rhymes or a gift to a friend with a quote that means something to the both of you!

This is part two of this lady’s video lesson class.

Watch (link) part one as well, she’ll cut the paper, discuss paper grain (though I recommend (link) this site for grain instead) and poke the holes in video one.   I love her paper ruler technique.  That would have been so much easier last night!

She shows the stitching in video two using ribbon and slowly stitching the holes.

I think I know why I had so much trouble last night.  I need a better awl.  I’ll make one today.  Using a homemade heavy needle awl isn’t enough for a book like this.  It’s time to make one with a nail instead.
